Galentines, Self Love Tips

Galentines, Self Love Tips

I wanted to celebrate Self Love this Valentines day, so lets start with a question:

How do you see yourself?

First, think about your personality, what are the words you would use to describe yourself? Are they positive like, fun loving, happy, loyal and caring?

Now, how do you see your self when you think about your body? Are the words that come to mind positive or negative? We are so conditioned to think negatively about our body and that needs to change. Here are some top tips for Self Love this Galentines!

1. Stop comparing yourself to others
Everybody has something that look at someone they look at and say 'I wish I had that', but likewise people are looking at you and thinking the same. Shift your focus to yourself and your journey. The shift of energy, alone, will help you feel free.

2. Don’t worry about others’ opinions
This is so freeing. Who cares what other people think?! You can never make everyone happy, it's a waste of time and will only slow you down on your journey to being the best you.

3. Take your time and be king to yourself
We all know nothing changes overnight and we all make mistakes. Take your time growing and learning and enjoy the journey.

4. Remember your value doesn’t lie in how your body looks
This is such an important foundation and so many things in the world want to distract you from this powerful truth. Sometimes even your own internalised sexism affirms your thoughts of inadequacy. You are valuable because you are you, not because of your body. So, wear what makes you feel good. If it’s a lot or if it’s a little, wear what makes you feel confident, comfortable, and happy.

5. Don’t be afraid to let go of toxic people
Not everybody takes responsibility for the energy they put out into the world. If there’s someone who is negative or toxic in your life and they won’t take responsibility for it, maybe step away from them. Remember you need to protect your energy. It’s not rude or wrong to remove yourself from situations or the company of people who are draining you.

6. Be Grateful
Try once a day to properly acknowledge something you are grateful for. Gratitude not only gives you perspective, it’s essential to help you find joy.

On that note, I would like to encourage you to take a moment now and find something you are grateful for, see how it makes you feel :)

Happy Galentines!
